The Institute for Jaques-Dalcroze Education, LLC is owned and operated by John Robert (Jack) Stevenson, Diplôme Supérieur Jaques-Dalcroze, an internationally recognized Jaques-Dalcroze pedagogue. Jack also serves as program director. The Institute provides authentic Jaques-Dalcroze teacher training for musicians and music educators.
The school sits on the grounds of the 108 acres Monocacy Manor estate, bounded by Monocacy Creek, and nestled at the foot-hills of the Pocono Mountains on the outskirts of Bethlehem, PA. The natural beauty of the grounds and the gentle flow of the creek provides an atmosphere ideal for learning.
The main teaching components of the Institute are the Summer Semester programs (Session A, Session B, Session L), and the Dalcroze National Holidays workshops. All courses provide an in-depth experience of the entire Jaques-Dalcroze approach: Eurhythmics, Solfège, Improvisation, Plastique Animée, Pedagogy, and Philosophy. Together, these courses prepare the candidates for the three-tiered Professional Certification and the Licence d'Enseignement.
